Do I need to speak Spanish to sell gold in Spain?

How do gold buyers in Spain calculate the price?
By weight and purity (karat/quilates). Spanish gold is usually 18k, sometimes 9k or 14k on imported pieces. A serious buyer weighs your piece on a certified scale in front of you and shows you the day's market price before offering a percentage of it.
Is it safe to sell gold at a local shop in Spain?
